Part 2. Obstacles to Starting a Practice

Week 3 & 4 – Obstacles to Starting a Practice

During Week 3 and 4 you will start to consider the things that prevent you from including a regular practice in your routine.  You will also have the opportunity to reflect on how you might be able to put in place different routines in order to overcome these obstacles.

You have two tasks during Part 2. These tasks are:

  1. Commence your self-directed practice following the Practice Structure document in the handouts section; and
  2. Complete the activity ‘Obstacles to your practice’.

You should review the Practice Structure immediately as you will need to start planning your practice for the week.  In this Part, your practice will be focused on Surya Namaskar, if you are unfamiliar with Surya Namaskar you can follow along with the following audio recording until you become familiar with the sequence.

After each practice make sure you record your practice in the practice log template provided.

As well as following the Practice Structure, an audio recording of a Yoga Mandir class is provided which you can follow along to.  You can follow this recording at anytime during weeks 3 & 4.  Make sure you record this sequence, as well as the sequences from any other classes you attend in your practice log.  If you are attending a led practice at Yoga Mandir or at another Yoga school you should also record this sequence within your log.

You can complete the activity ‘Obstacles to your practice’ at any time during Weeks 3 and 4.
