Reflective Practice-Teachers (RP-T) is made up of Certified Iyengar Yoga Teachers who meet regularly to discuss issues of teaching and practice with colleagues. These discussions are guided by senior teacher Alan Goode and aim to provide peer support to individuals through this ongoing group dialogue.

Reflective Practice-Teacher builds upon a basic skillset identified in the Theory Teaching Module to consider how students learn and understand. It holds a skills and knowledge focus which is developed through two avenues:

  1. Principles of demonstration, instruction, observation, and correction. These four principles statements were distributed to teachers as a guide by BKS Iyengar, in the mid 1980’s and are still relevant today.
  2. The Abhyasa-Vairagya Axis. The Axis is designed to deliver a different way of looking a teaching other than the lens of alignment and technique. As core principles of Yogic philosophy, Abhyasa and Vairagya are what we aim to establish when teaching and the axis is a means for teachers to review any teaching.
